About The Research

The Role of Cancer-associated Fibroblasts in Mediating Chemotherapy Resistance in Pancreatic Cancer

We aim to study the molecular interactions between pancreatic cancer cells and stromal cells, specifically cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). We hypothesis that CAFs, being the predominant cell type with in the stroma and main producer of extracelluar proteins and soluble factors, may mediate chemoresistance via cell-cell interactions or the secretion of specific soluble factors. Our goal is to identify novel therapeutic targets and to develop more effective strategies for treatment.
