Objectives
- Academic portfolio to develop succession planning for leadership positions (2024).
Achieved Goals
- Launched PharmSci New Hire Orientation Course (OETLD and HR—Mar 2023, revised version Nov 2023).
- SPIIF fund approved project to support mentorship and training for early career researchers (May 2023); delivered two events in 2023.
- Launched section on website to better support Clinical Appointments and Promotions (April 2023).
- Launched peer reviewer workshops to support faculty members involved in the Peer Review of Teaching process (Sep 2023).
- Created the postdoctoral fellow handbook and supervisor handbook, incorporating details of program information and all relevant university resources to facilitate the onboarding of new postdoctoral trainees and faculty members who are supervisors of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows (summer 2023).
- Launched UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Independence Research Grant to support outstanding postdoctoral fellows in developing their first research grant application as an independent academic researcher by offering a small amount of independent funding of $10,000 (to support 1 grant), to support them in making the transition to become competitive candidates for tenure-track faculty positions in academia (2024).
- SPIIF fund approved "Queer Eye for Pharm Sci: Supporting Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression Integration into Pharmacy Programs" by Tim Lim—awarded $10,000. This project will encompass a two-year professional development endeavour which delivers sequential workshops and related resources to educators of training programs to build capacity in training related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE) (April 2024); workshop invited speakers Jaris Swidorovich and Logan Smilges (May 2024).
- PharmSci Research Office helped to develop mentorship guidelines and pathways for Canada Research Chairs as part of the Equity and Inclusion Office's (EIO’s) mentoring initiatives team (2023–24).
