Molly Lin - poster award winner at the 18th Annual Medicine Undergraduate Research Forum. Poster title: "Absorption and Distribution of Amphotericin B Following Oral Administration in Novel Lipid-Based Formulations."
Dr. Thomas Pulinilkunnil - former PhD student (graduated in 2006) with Brian Rodrigues; recently accepted a position as assistant professor at Dalhousie University following successful postdoctoral studies with Dr. Barbara Kahn (Harvard) and Dr. Jason Dyck (Alberta).
Dr. Prasanth Puthanveetil - a graduate student with Dr. Brian Rodrigues; successfully defended his PhD thesis on February 17, 2012. Prasanth will begin his postdoctoral studies with Dr. John Cidlowski, who is the Chief of the Laboratory of Signal Transduction at the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Pavel Gershkovich - research associate in Dr. Kishor Wasan's laboratory; recently accepted a faculty position at the University of Nottingham, UK.
Dr. Thomas Chang - recently appointed Head of the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Training Program for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC and elected member of the Awards Committee of the Canadian Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
Natalie McCormick - winner of the CADTH Student Travel Award and the Canadian Rheumatology Association Travel Bursary.
Shirin Rizzardo - winner of the PPRC (Pharmaceutical Policy Research Collaboration) Award. She will be flown to the CAHSPR conference in Montreal at the end of May 2012.
Dr. Aik Jiang Lau - winner of a Young Scientist Travel Award from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) to attend the Experimental Biology Conference in April 2012 in San Diego, CA.
Kathy Saatchi - first prize winner for her oral presentation "A Novel Unimolecular Nanoprobe for Blood Pool Imaging" delivered at the 11th International Symposium on Applied Bioinorganic Chemistry in Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. Thomas Chang - appointed to the editorial board of the prestigious journal, Drug Metabolism and Disposition.
Dr. Ramesh K. Goyal - successfully completed his tenure as the Vice Chancellor at the M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara, India following 33 years of service at the L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad, India. He has taken on a new assignment as the Director of the I.S.F. College of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab.
Dr. Alan Low - appointed to the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board (PAAB) Evidence Expert Advisory Committee as a committee member.
Dr. Rosemin Kasam - winner of the 2011 Lifetime Service Award as part of the Pharmacy Practice and Drugstore Canada Commitment to Care & Service Awards.

Dr. Rishi Somvanshi- winner of a quarterly travel award presented by the University of British Columbia Postdoctoral Fellows Office (PDFO) at the Faculty of Graduate Studies. This is the first time the PDFO has assigned these awards intended to assist UBC Postdocs (PDFs) with travel to conferences to present research performed during their time at UBC.
Vivian Leung, BSc(Pharm), ACPR, PharmD (PhD Candidate) - winner of a travel scholarship to attend and give a presentation at the "EC Jamboree: Annual Meeting of the International Consortium for Emergency Contraception and the American Society for Emergency Contraception" in New York City, October 4-5, 2011.
Dr. Mary Ensom - winner of the 2011 American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Education Award "for major contributions to advancing clinical pharmacy education" at the Annual Meeting in October (Pittsburgh, PA). She was also the recipient of the 2006 ACCP Russell R Miller Publication Award in recognition of “substantial contributions to the literature of clinical pharmacy.” She is the only Canadian-based recipient of the Publication and/or Education Award from ACCP, a 12,000+ member US-based organization.
Dr. Emma Guns – recently appointed President of the Natural Health Product Research Society of Canada (NHPRS) of Canada.
Dr. Peter J. Zed – winner of the 2011 Memorial University School of Pharmacy Alumni Achievement Award. This award is given in recognition of significant accomplishments in the fields of pharmacy practice and education and for exceptional human values that are an inspiration to those with whom they come in contact. This is the highest honour the MUN School of Pharmacy can bestow upon one of its graduates.

Dr. Larry Lynd – recently profiled as Researcher of the Month October 2011 and appointed to the Health Canada Scientific Advisory Committee on Nonprescription Drugs (SAC-NPD).
Dr. Carlo Marra – recently appointed to the CIHR Drug Safety and Effectiveness Network (DSEN) Committee and CIHR Operating Grant Evaluation Committee – Health Services Research.
Dr. James McCormack and Dr. Mike Allan – winners of the Eric Elder Memorial Medal for embodying the pioneering approach to education and lateral thinking in general practice that Dr. Eric Elder would have approved of — applying Aristotlean 'practical wisdom' in inspiring as well as entertaining general practitioners on the way to providing the best possible care. Dr. Eric Elder was an inspired rural GP who lived and worked in Tuatapere for nearly 60 years.
